The forest products industry is a key provider of fiber, energy, and materials needed to meet the world’s growing needs. Although the industry was traditionally focused on turning trees into lumber and paper, it has developed significantly over the past decades and now provides a wide range of products for a variety of end uses.
Today, wood fibers are used in the manufacturing of packaging material (e.g. corrugated boards, boxboards, and sack kraft paper) and hygienic products (e.g. tissues and diapers), among others. Moreover, in light of the growing effort to control climate change and deforestation, governments and manufacturers alike are constantly exploring new regulations and procedures aimed at minimizing the environmental impact.
Regulatory bodies, like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), are also providing international standards. G.A. Paper works with suppliers and customers to not only support their commercial needs as well as their environmental goals. Most suppliers already satisfy the requirements, and those that do not, have often already started a process to ensure that forestry operations will be environmentally compatible.
